Joshua William is here!!

By God's good grace and love we have been blessed with our second son.
Joshua William entered the world, filled his lungs with air and announcing his presence on July 23 @ 8:01 in the morning.

Note that we scrambled out of the house around 7:15.
Dear ol' Dad thought he might be becoming Hamrick Waller MD on the side of the road and to make things a little more interesting the 7:20 train pulled into the station and created a nice little road block.
Julie was whisked through the halls of the hospital in a wheel chair as I tried to do my best NASCAR impersonation and at the same time not hurt anybody. She was in a bed by 7:30, with little time to even get into her trendy hospital gown before the real "fun" started.
Yes, that was close...
No, there was no time for pain medication...
"Oh No!" You say? Well, that's what Julie said too. The epidural that Julie had been lining up since Nathan's birth almost 2 and a half years ago, the epidural that would make the second birth a pain free ride on a cloud, was not to be. Instead she bear down and screamed so loudly that Joshua certainly startled and not wanting to risk hearing loss, had no choice but to vacate his once peaceful space in record time.

Solid. Watching Julie give birth to our children is one of the most mind blowing things I have experienced in my life and again it has left me with a sense of admiration and pride.

The first night home wasn't too bad... until say... 2am when I was forced to become a lounger for the boy (Joshua) to sleep on due to his dislike of any other method attempted to calm him down. He lay on my chest for 4 hours... during which I obviously couldn't move. How nice... life's little sacrifices right? Good thing he doesn't weigh much, which allowed me to sleep as well.

So, it's go time again. The sleep deprivation. The positioning and repositioning of the baby in hopes he will sleep. The oh so "lovely" echoes of crying bouncing around inside my skull. Oh yeah... and the teenie little diapers with the big ol' mess.

Love it! Wouldn't change it for the world!
