If I give you a boost... think we can reach the star?
We have been enjoying the Christmas season with Nathan this year, as naturally he understands a whole lot more of what's going on.
Julie has been doing a daily advent calendar with him and he's been getting special Christmas surprises every once in a while. Little does he know that these "special" little items from the attic that he's never seen before... were all at his disposal last year too.
Gotta love post toddler memory loss.
It's funny sometimes when I try to do things with him that we did when he was younger (as if he's old or something) and he looks at me with a quizzical look on his face and obviously has no recollection of it.
One of the songs Nathan has been singing recently is Joy to the World. He does a nice rendition, except that he says "Heaven and nature sit" instead of "Heaven and nature sing", but he'll get it eventually. It's great to hear him in his bed in the morning singing Christmas carols with his own little spin on the interpretation of the words.
Classic stuff.
"Gwooooo...ooooo...ooooo...oooooo...rium. In the special waaaaay aaaay ooooo" {Gloria in excelsis Deo}
Nathan's 2's and 3's class was in the Advent Program at church last Sunday which was fun to watch. They sang "My God is So Great" and recited Genesis 1:1 - God made everything. They all did really great and surprisingly they didn't go running all over the stage. After one of the other classes did a skit that featured the Shepherds that went to Bethlehem, Nathan saw the opportunity to wander across the isle behind them after they sat down so that he could get an autograph. Actually he only got to chat with them very briefly, but he was starstruck for a bit.
After church we went to Nana Laureen's place for a family get together to introduce Joshua to those we don't see as often and to celebrate Papa Bill's birthday. Nathan had a grand time running around with John and he slept really well that night. Thank you John, your welcome to come play any time. It's always nice to be with family, especially around the holidays. It's equally as nice to be able to relax, eat and sit on the couch watching football while the family has taken your kids off of your hands. Hee hee.
As young as he is, Joshua has been getting some enjoyment out of the Christmas season too. Nathan has been showing him how to properly set up the Little People nativity set and he's been getting to hear the afore mentioned "special" Christmas books over and over again.
He also seems to be quite fascinated with all of the lights and hangy things on the tree, which has been doubling as another entertainment area to keep him nicely occupied when they play mat and bouncy seat aren't sufficient.
Joshua has finally gotten to the point where he enjoys getting a bath, which is a lot nicer on the ears. I starting to wonder about the pH levels in our water or maybe it was the Brillo pad on the sink we had been using... kidding.
Happy shopping. 11 more days left.
